A stroke is a medical disorder in which a blood clot plugs blood vessels in the brain, interrupting blood flow and causing cell death. According to the American Stroke Association's guidelines, there are three types of strokes: ischemic stroke (an obstruction within a blood artery delivering blood to the brain), hemorrhagic stroke (weakened blood vessel rapture owing to high blood pressure), and transient ischemic attack (TIA) (identified by a temporary clot).
